We completed the final factory walk-thru of the ma-rfa mod this past week. The building should be hitting the road for the long trek to west Texas by early October. Stay posted.
ma’s latest project, a 2800sf, 3 bedroom, 3 bath home destined for Marfa, TX is on line. The project will be the first ma home to utilize Ground Force Construction’s pre-cast slab technology. The courtyard house will sit on one of the highest points in the West Texas town, with stunning views to both the mountains and overlooking the courthouse and county seat. Site work is happening concurrently with fabrication of the modules in the factory, and the house is slated to ship in early August.

SOL Austin is hosting an Open House(S) event on Sunday, June 12 from 1:00 to 4:00.
Thank you to all who attended the Blue Crest open house Saturday. Many of you asked how customizable the ma homes are. During Design, we’ll work with you to assess whether one of our standard plans will fit your space needs, budget and property configuration or whether it’s more appropriate to design a semi-custom plan. For an additional fee, we can design a completely custom plan. Our partner manufacturers and site crews are very flexible — if we can dream it, they can build it. The Blue Crest house is proof!
Construction has started on ma modular’s first out-of-town project, a second home on the beautiful and serene Blanco River in Wimberley, TX.
The “Blanco River” house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1400 sq ft of conditioned living space and an additional 560 sq ft of outdoor deckspace overlooking the water. An outdoor shower will be installed outside glass doors leading to the master bedroom.
Site work and the foundation has been completed on site, and the home is currently under construction at ma’s partner manufacturing plant, Ground Force, located in Navasota, TX.
Our 1900 sf 3 bed, 2.5 bath “Blue Crest” plan in SW Austin is nearing completion. The owners have generously agreed to open their home once they’ve had a few weeks to settle in.

The ma modular Ruth house — an 850 sq ft 2 bed, 1.5 bath guest house — was delivered and crane set today! The house is a Texas “dog trot”-style home. Dog trot homes consist of two separate living areas under one roof, separated by a wide gallery. One of the living areas contains sleeping accommodations; the other is where the family cooks, eats and entertains. The homes were designed so that family dogs could trot back and forth in the gallery instead of running around the house. The Ruth house “gallery” will be used as a screened porch, which opens up the home to pleasant North/South breezes.

We’re happy to announce that ma modular’s parent company, KRDB Architects, was the winner of Builder magazine’s challenge for innovation and efficiency under 1600 SF. The winning house is located in the SOL Austin neighborhood (www.solaustin.com). SOL was developed by KRDB and builder Beck-Reit and Sons.

Through projects like SOL, KRDB has developed an energy modeling system that we can apply to every project to determine the best options for heating, cooling, insulation, windows, electricity, hot water, etc. This energy model is a propriety tool developed over the last 10 years of designing/building sustainable homes.
